Open Belgian Championships
Brasschaat, near Antwerp, Belgium
20-22 April 2007

The Pencak Silat Federation of the UK (PSF UK) sent a small team to participate in the Open Belgian Championships, hosted by the Bond Pencak Silat Belgie (BPSB). The tournament coincided with the 25-year celebration of the inauguration of the Belgian Pencak Silat Federation.

Some 110 competitors from 10 countries (Azerbaijan, Belgium, France, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, Netherlands, Singapore, Switzerland and the UK) took part in these Championships. As in previous Belgian Open, only Tanding (fighting) contests were held, with no Seni (artistic) competitions included, as there was only one country that had registered athletes in the Tunggal (single) and Ganda (double) categories.

The guests of honour attending the opening ceremony included the Ambassador from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia to Belgium, Representatives from the Malaysian High Commission and the Singapore Embassy, the Mayor of the town of Brasschaat, Bapak Eddie Nalapraya, President of the International Pencak Silat Federation (PERSILAT) and Mr George Fredrikzs, President of the European Pencak Silat Federation (EPSF).
